Last week we participated in the week-long 14th General Assembly of the Consortium Africain des Fonds pour l’Environnement – CAFE that was hosted by the Community Conservation Fund of Namibia (CCFN) in Swakopmund, Namibia.
Under the theme of “Communities and Indigenous People” – Community Based Natural Resource Management as a strategy towards the 30×30 #conservationtargets, the event brought together over 90 participants from over 35 countries around the world.
With many conservation experts, speakers and representatives of communal conservancies and Conservation Trust Funds (CTFs), the event provided an ideal platform where rich discussions in promotion of #sustainable environmental financing were held.
MEET was well represented by the Coordinator, Ms. Karen Price. Among other activities, Ms. Price gave an overview of the best practice standards for CTFs during the Assembly.
Briefly, the practice standards serve as a tool for improving CTFs’ efficiency and effectiveness in terms of their design, management, monitoring and evaluation.
30 by 30 (or 30×30) is a worldwide initiative that aims to protect at least 30 percent of the planet’s land and #water by 2030.
Before the General Assembly which started on 2nd September, Ms. Price also participated in a 2-day meeting of the CAFÉ Executive Committee where she has been serving as a member.
