Last week we participated in the week-long 14th General Assembly of the Consortium Africain des Fonds pour l’Environnement – CAFE<\/a> that was hosted by the Community Conservation Fund of Namibia<\/a> (CCFN) in Swakopmund, Namibia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the theme of \u201cCommunities and Indigenous People\u201d \u2013 Community Based Natural Resource Management as a strategy towards the 30×30 #conservation<\/a>\"\ud83c\udf31\"targets, the event brought together over 90 participants from over 35 countries around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With many <\/a>conservation experts, speakers and representatives of communal conservancies and Conservation Trust Funds (CTFs), the event provided an ideal platform where rich discussions in promotion of #sustainable<\/a> environmental financing were held.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MEET was well represented by the Coordinator, Ms. Karen Price<\/a>. Among other activities, Ms. Price gave an overview of the best practice standards for CTFs during the Assembly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Briefly, the practice standards serve as a tool for improving CTFs\u2019 efficiency and effectiveness in terms of their design, management, monitoring and evaluation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

30 by 30 (or 30×30) is a worldwide initiative that aims to protect at least 30 percent of the planet’s land and #water<\/a> by 2030.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before the General Assembly which started on 2nd September, Ms. Price also participated in a 2-day meeting of the CAF\u00c9 Executive Committee where she has been serving as a member. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
